What is OTA testing?
As the name implies, OTA test will simulate the scene of the product's wireless signal transmission in the air, and the test will be carried out by connecting the transmitting antenna or receiving antenna port of the test device to the test system through the wireless signal.
OTA testing can take into account factors such as internal radiation interference, product structure, antenna factors, RF chip transceiver algorithms, etc., and is very close to the actual use of the product.
Let's take the earliest 3G UE SISO OTA test as an example to understand the most basic environment required for OTA testing:
Absorbing anechoic chamber, turntable (control UE rotation)
Probe antenna (receives UE radiated signal at a fixed location)
Wireless test platform for providing probe antenna virtual base station signals (e. g. Keysight UXM series, not shown)
During the measurement, the radiation characteristics of the UE antenna in different directions will be controlled and measured by rotating the turntable.
