Comtech successfully tested and verified 5G networks on satellite

telecompaper announced today that it has successfully tested and validated 5G connectivity over Greece's satellite network with three global technology leaders: CloudSignals,HellasSat and leading mobile network operators (MNOs).
During the test, a commercial 5G node was connected to the MNO's 5G test bed network and relayed via a satellite link provided by the HellasSat. "This test demonstrates the potential of converged satellite and terrestrial technologies to deliver 5G capabilities to remote areas where traditional terrestrial and wireless infrastructures are not connected or underserved," said Comtech President and CEO KenPeterman."
Comtech's technology includes its ELEVATE VSAT solution, which provides high-speed backhaul services for 5G satellite-based connections. Today, satellites play a vital role in helping mobile network operators provide services to customers in remote and underserved areas. They are flexible, cost-effective, scalable and reliable solutions for providing communication services.
